About This Content On November 30th 1939, three months after the outbreak of World War 2, the Soviet Union declares war on the neutral nation of Finland. Under the pretext of seeking territorial changes to protect the city of Leningrad, the vast Red Army envisions a quick victory against the small and poorly equipped Finnish defence force. Outnumbered three to one and facing an enemy with an insurmountable superiority in tanks and aircraft, a great challenge lays ahead of the Finnish Army. But its brave and stubborn soldiers, fighting for their homes and families, every intent to welcome the enemy to a freezing hell of ice and fire. This new expansion for Order of Battle: WW2 includes the Winter War (1939-1940), the Continuation War (1941-1944) and the Lapland War (1944-1945). Players take control of the Finnish Army and, according to the shifting tides of war, allied troops from Germany or the Soviet Union.New Campaign: Ladoga Karelia Tolvajärvi Karelian Isthmus Suomussalmi Raate Road Summa Arctic Fox Ladoga Karelia '41 East Karelia Someri Viipuri Tali-Ihantala Lapland New Units:This expansion adds more than 90 new units to the game, including Finnish ski troops, panzerfaust-equipped infantry, German Panzer IV and StuG III combat vehicles, several variations of the Soviet T-34, KV-2 152mm-armed heavy tanks and a whole range of iconic aircraft such as the Me Bf-109, Fw-190, Yak-7, Il-2 Sturmovik and Fokker D.XXI. New Climate:As the name suggests, Winter War brings a completely new climate to the Order of Battle series: winter. Snow impacts the movement speed of units, ice can be crossed by ground units but cannot be entrenched and frozen rivers no longer provide a natural defensive barrier. Combined with the already unique landscape of Finland, these new features provide a challenging new gameplay experience. 7aa9394dea Title: Order of Battle: Winter WarGenre: Simulation, StrategyDeveloper:The ArtistocratsPublisher:Slitherine Ltd.Release Date: 21 Jul, 2016 Order Of Battle: Winter War Activation Code [FULL] War of the Lapland!. This is more of the great same really! The Finnish side of ww2 isn't featured in many games, although that doesn't automatically mean that it makes for an exciting theatre though; theres no naval battles (so far) and the Finnish towns are populated by palm trees which are sneakily (lazily) covered in snow. I love playing the underdog but thats why theres a Japanese campaign though. So I love the new setting but I'd really like the next scenario to go ahead in time rather than further back!. After playing the first free mission last night I can really say I cannot suggest this dlc more. FIrst off this front is often overlooked by developers in favor of a more conventional campaign in Western or Eastern Europe. The Artistocrats have proven that they can do off the beaten path when it comes to scenarios like the ones found in Rising Sun, and this shines through in The Winter War. Playing as the Finnish army really captures the asymmetrical warfare that characterized the brutal fighting throughout Finland's experience in the Second World War. People new to this subject area may complain about the lack of Finnish armour or aircraft or other state of the art weapon systems. It is important to understand though that Finland lacked all those assets in any appreciable qualities at the outbreak of hostilites in 1939. This makes fighting a unique challenge, I have had to voluntarily give up victory points and meticulously plan counter attacks with just infantry, ski and engineer units in order to knock out the cudgel that are the assembled armies of the USSR. The fighting is spectacular and the terrain plays into this perfectly. Your movement is hampered by the snow, as the Finns you can take advantage of the fact that the Soviets will largely be forced to stick to roads to fully employ motti tactics. This game feels like the Winter War, sounds like it (kudos to the developers for including Sibelius in the soundtrack), looks like it and I could not be happier to say that yes, this DLC is most definitely worth your money.. I've played the whole Winter War right up to the Lapland campaign. I do like the game and think it's worth the purchase. However, I found it too easy frankly, and manged to wipe out all invading Russian forces on several occasions. I am disappointed that despite my repeated massacres of enemy tanks and soldiers, that an alternate history wasn't written that would not force the humiliating peace deal, the expulsion of German forces and demobilization of the Finnish army. I refuse to play the Lapland scenario, as after the beating I gave the Russians - I even captured Leningrad - the enemy would be in no position to dictate terms.. It bring back memories to Panzer General II. I really enjoy this game. Very fine strategy. Its not easy this campaing. I just finished Raate Road wel it was super fun. Also Suomussalmi was very fun. Few times I was really surprised with some manuevres and my line was almost broken. Some epic battles when morale fall down to hell and unites need some rest. Great balanced game. I can just suggest this campaing.. Great scenarios with great maps. Would not recommend to new players due to difficulty level! Also, last scenario has bugged approval counter, kinda incredible considering how much time developers had to fix it.Just played tali-ihantala and first 15 turns were pure agony - I thought there is no freakin chance to get alive. But somehow managed to stretch the enemy on the middle front, push hard on west and defend hard on east. West flank came to help middle in the last moment and took over while transporting middle front troops to help the east front. Then managed to cut enemy supply lines and the rest was walking the park. This is my first oob dlc and as much as i enjoy it, i hope that rising sun which i intend to buy next will be a bit more relaxed.
